Congratulations to Dr. Victor Mak (07), who just became the new President of Canadian Academy of Periodontology The CAP held the 2019 annual Meeting in Quebec City
Victor started his perio residency at the UW in 2004 after he had been in practice as a general dentist. He graduated in 2007. He currently practices in Surrey, British Columbia.
Drs. Rachel Black and Katherine Knoll were both finalists at the 2018 Balint Orban Award The title of Rachel’s presentation was "Peri-Implant Debridement May Lead to Accelerated Titanium Dissolution."
Katherine’s presentation was titled "Bone Marrow Adiposity and Microvascular Density in the Alveolar Bone Changes in Diabetes Study."
Dr. Georgios Kotsakis mentored both the 2018 Graduates of the program in periodontics at the University of Washington.
The Balint Orban Award competition is a forum for residents in accredited periodontal programs in the United States and Canada to present their graduate research. Only 4 finalists per year are accepted to present at the Orban Clinical Research competition among hundreds of applicants.

During the annual conference in Vancouver Dr. Oded Bahat (1981) received the prestigious Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology. Congratulations!!

On March 17, 2015, after working his normal 12 hour stint at his winery, Mick Dragoo went home, where he unexpectedly collapsed and died. He was a brilliant man, and a phenomenal clinician, teacher, thinker, innovator, and entrepreneur, who never seemed to be tired. Mick was a special man who touched, influenced and improved the lives of people all over the world.
